press/reviews

Ted Kelly, Program Director, UPOP 29, WorldSpace/XM Satellite Radio

"The name is real and so is the talent, a refreshing sound that smoothly moves you through an eclectic mix"

Bev Moser - Music News Nashville

"She can perform a slow, funky, finger snapping song and take you straight to a dark smokey room with a desparate and haunting plea sound."

Marianne Meyer - Washington Post

"XOC," produced by Gutierrez and recorded at Assembly Line, is available on iTunes and CD Baby and at live shows. It's a diverse and sophisticated collection, predominantly guitar-based but willing to explore other melodic genres. The lyrics of "It'll Be Alright" ride atop an intriguing electronic soundscape. "Rick's Café" is a rollicking, bluesy narrative in the manner of Bob Dylan's "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts." "Naked" has a playful pop bounce, and "Break" touches on Southern fiddle blues.

Erin Bukofsky of Bryan Farrish Radio Promotion

"Celeste Starchild ~ XOC" A great album that is full of character, combining multiple genres such as folk, blues, pop and rock. Each song is filled with passion and creativity. Starchild's powerful yet smooth vocals grab the listener's attention while the excellent instrumentation breathes life into the music. Shakira meets Fiona apple in this edgy and intriguing album.

Track 1 The Witch is Dead- An upbeat track with a great rhythm and beat held by the drums, bass and guitar. A clever title for this track that speaks of men who had it coming. With some Jewel melodicness and some Alanis Morisette angst, this track casts a spell after one listening.

Track 7 Apple of My Eye- The distinct sound effects and various vocal tonalities make for a fun and uplifting song. The trumpet and keys interspersed throughout the piece are notable and complete the unique atmosphere of the track.

Track 11 It'll Be Alright- A multi-layered track with a beautiful melody. The vocal harmonies added throughout the song add richness and depth to the overall feel.
